2025 PhD Video Challenge - People's Vote

Cast Your Vote! Watch the videos of the 2025 PhD Video Challenge and help decide which one will receive the People's Award prize. The winner of the People's Vote will receive a prize of €400.

The theme of the 2025 PhD Video Challenge is "Why It Matters". PhD students explain the significance of their research in a 2-minute video. Collectively and individually, these videos are a celebration of emerging built environment research and its relevance to some key problems facing society.

Voting is now open. Voting Rules:
  • Voting commences Monday 27 October 2025 at 12pm GMT
  • Voting closes on Wednesday 12 November 2025 at 11.59pm GMT
  • Winners will be announced on this page on Monday 17 November
  • Voting on each video is by star rating. 1* = 'Needs Improvement. 2* = 'Fair'. 3* = 'Good'. 4* = 'Very Good'. 5* = 'Outstanding'.
  • Repeat voting by the same person is not permitted and will be discarded.
  • Important: Your ratings will only be submitted if you click the CAST YOUR VOTES button at the bottom of the page.
  • Criteria: In rating the videos, you are encouraged to assess: its narrative, its accessibility to a general audience, whether its significance to society is clear, its originality and creativity.
